                           Music Appreciation

In the last two weeks we had music sessions with Mr.Kissaun. We listened to many different songs with different styles of music. We learnt that each song has its own message. There are many different types of music. These include pop, rock, country, funk, heavy metal and jazz. There are also different messages and meanings. These include politic opinions, romantic songs, criminal, funky music. The composers always write the songs for a reason, for instance to express their feelings towards someone. In the first sessions we listened to some 60`s ,70`s and 80`s. During the second session we listened to some 90`s and 2000`s songs. There were some legendery ones that after 50 years and over, are still famous and respected by a lot of people. In the last session Mr.Kissaun brought four guitars from his collection and he played some songs by heart. We learnt and appreciate the hard work that the artist put into it.

                       Waste Reduction Week

Students from Ħandaq prepared charts, banners and posters to raise awareness so that people could recycle. Charts, banners and posters were made from recycling materials. We wrote a letter to Miss Rosianne Cutajar, Qormi’s mayor so that she could attend to this activity. Students got out of school and stopped near different factories to talk to the workers so that they could realise how important the concept of recycle is. Students also gave the workers a letter which was about how important is to recycle and how to help the envioronment. While we were going around the factories we met a man and he showed us a car that works with water.  By this campaign the students gave a message to the workers on how much important recycing is.

                 A Talk About Trees

One particular session of our Cultural Accretion consisted of Mr. Johan Gatt. He talked to us about the importance of trees and wildlife that are vital to Malta's environment. He told us plenty of unfortunate stories that happened to some trees. He explained that the wildlife in Malta depends a lot on these trees.

One time he went on an outing with some students and they planted many trees. Then when he went at the same place a week later, he found them all gone or up-routed!

But,they are working really hard to make the Maltese Islands a better place. They planted more trees after that.

He told us that trees are a very important component in the way we live. They take in Carbon Dioxide and release Oxygen. It was a very interesting talk and we enjoyed every minute!
